Fort Collins Colorado State Rams
Colorado State Triathlon Club 20teens has established itself as one of the nation's top teams with a strong showing at the 2016 U.S. Trials in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Colorado State has an all-conference rivalry with Wyoming Border War, with the winner of the annual football game receiving the Bronze Boot. Colorado State and in-state rival Colorado have faced off for 20 years, competing in the Rocky Mountain West Conference championship game in Fort Collins. Since the game moved to Denver in 1998, the teams have played in front of more than 1,500,000 fans each year, among the largest crowds in our state, to experience a college sports event.
SDCCU Stadium, then called Qualcomm Stadium, is home to the San Diego State Rams football team and the University of California, San Bernardino.
The Rams won 26-9 and finished second in the Mountain West and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament. Colorado got its revenge against Texas, winning its second consecutive Big 12 title and third in four years. On the defensive end, Colorado State won't be confused with Alabama or Georgia, but a host of solid players can make up for that. In 2019, the CSU ranked 104th in rushed defense, and this year it ranks 16th nationally in rushed defense.
Boulder is only a 20-minute drive from Denver and would not be too far for the team and fans, but the stadium is not as good as it would be for fans coming into the Denver Metro. If the NHL wants to make an outdoor game in Colorado, there is another option, and it can be a great opportunity to bring the major leagues to the hockey fans in northern Colorado.
In Fort Collins, public transportation is enough to get people to the stadium, and CSU students travel for free. There is also a bus that runs every 15 minutes between Denver and Boulder and could take fans to and from stadiums. The NHL would like to make sure that the sponsors are seen and heard by all of us, but that would be difficult in Boulder, as Folsom Field has the second largest capacity of the four venues and is only a 20-minute drive from the Denver Metro and a 30-minute drive from Boulder, so there is not enough parking space in the parking lot or parking garages for the number of people that could fit there. FortCollins Transfort offers an extensive network of destinations to connect the campus with those outside of Fort Collins, and offers a free bus service to all major Colorado cities, as well as connections to extensive destination networks inside and outside of Fort Collins.
Colorado State and CSU volleyball players have a record 656-351 since they started playing in 1976, and coach Tom Hilbert is in his eleventh year with a record 283-70. Colorado State is also home to the University of Colorado and the Colorado College of Science and Technology. After a 7-6 start to the season, the Fairchild Rams fell back into mediocrity before being led by former Colorado football head coach John McGraw in 2008. McGRAW stayed on at CS U in various coaching and administrative roles for more than 40 years, leading them to their first NCAA tournament in 2006 and their second in 2009.
Colorado State hired Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain to take over as head coach on December 13, 2011. When CSU hired Tim Miles from North Dakota State in March 2007, only two scholarship holders remained. On Thursday, it was announced that a graduate transfer from Washington will make his college debut as a defensive defender for the Rams in the 2017 season. O'Brien had moved to Colorado State from Nebraska before the 2018 season, along with former Colorado defenseman Chris Hill.
In 1957, Colorado State University was called the "Colorado State Aggies," a reference to the Aggie football team at the University of Texas at Austin. By the end of that decade, the nickname "Aggies" had evolved into "Aggie Rams" and eventually simply became "Rams." The A was whitewashed in the 1970s, with a "B" for the first two years and a "C" after the second.
Hughes Stadium was replaced by Lubick Stadium, also known as "Lubick," for the 2017 season, and the stadium's name was changed to Canvas Stadium in 2018.
The game came against a team ranked 13th and 17th in the Mountain West Conference in total defense and offensive performance, respectively. Longmont had 507 yards, the second-best single season in school history, and Jay Barry, who moved to the left on October 26, 2020, had them. It was the third - the most yards in a single game of a Rams game in program history and the first by an FCS team since CSU was 376. SDSU was 377, but it finished third, followed by Colorado State's 376 against San Diego State and Colorado Tech's 377 against the Aztecs.
